Been very busy for the past 2 months or so with two major 'events'....so that's my brilliant? lame? excuse for not upkeeping my blogsite.
I will talk about the first one: which is the software application that I am working on now.
TEST-RUNNING THE SOFTWARE'S INTELLIGENCE...
The 'wireframe' version of my proprietary realtime analytics has since been running on test for a few weeks now. The result I am seeing before my eyes are just ....[loss of words...] .....unprecedented? amazing?
Why so? Now these realtime analytics are never before available in the market place in the way they capture and measure the stock market very very intimate pulses.
Those numbers that flickered before my eyes running on our test server truly reveal the most intimate part of the stock market on ultra-realtime basis and even as the 'creator' of the software, I am deeply intrigued by the new dimensions and perspectives it offers. With these new found analytics, we have managed to capture the very sensitive pulses of the intraday market movements, fluctuations and volatility, not sparing even the subtle changes in direction on realtime intraday basis. And that is just one of the 7 modules [ in layman means global function] of my software. This particular module will give the active intra-day traders extreme advantage on the full perspective of what's going on in the market place at instant to snap at the best available opportunity for 'scalping' the market as it uses special algors to point to WHERE the action really is NOW by the realtime.
COMPLETION OF GUI DESIGN [ THEME AND DESIGN OF APPLICATION]
We have completed the designing of the 'skin' of this desktop application in full specs through the help of two NAFA multimedia undergraduates to create a user friendly navigation concept and they will be handing over the completed work tomorrow [ Thurs, 16th Sept 2010] with a walk through presentation and counter-check that all features are in place. Would like to make my special gratitude thanks to both Jasmine and Amelia for the efforts and ideas.
THE FINAL STAGE: FRONTEND [technical term: client end]
Now, in case you are not familiar with programmatical terms, just like myself in the beginning, Designing of the the software 'theme, look and feel' is like an architect who comes out with the draft of a building on paper as per owner's requirements. So, in other words, what Jasmine and Amelia have completed is putting all the 'ideas' into graphic forms, but at this point, these graphics are still 'dormant' or you may call them static images that you cannot click on or do anything with it; just graphics.
So, here comes another group of ...specialists [commonly known as actionscriptors ]. Their job is to give these static images/graphics life...convert them into functional features....as in these graphics will start moving. Maybe that's why they are called 'action-scriptors'. They code the actions so that you can then click on icons, view graphs and do what the software is built to help you do...
Well yeah. The software development has reached the final of alpha stage [....which means in the development] And my project is currently put up for tender on one of the major IT developer website where companies from all corners of the world can bid for the 'job' at a price and timeline.
We have so far received a number of bidders with reasonable track record in the area of expertise required for our project and the bidding process will end in 3 days, upon which myself and my team will select the most suitable candidate to work with us for the next 2-3 months....[ I would be grateful, if that is achievable given the complexity of our application [software]. But since on the average, most bidders after vetting our requirements have proposed timeline of 2-3 months, I believe we are quite safe to assume that that's about how long it should take to complete the final coding of my 'creation'.
But, that is not all. While the actionscriptors begin their work, the first group of programmers [backend] whom have produced the 'wireframe' test version I mentioned earlier will continue to work concurrently on the algorithms, formulae and backend logics.
THE CHALLENGE.....INTEGRATION
At this stage and going forth, the entire team of programmers, backend and frontend and myself and my partner will have to ensure that the two 'programmatical languages' are/ must be fully integrated seamlessly and in perfect sychronisation....so that the software application give us the mimimal 'bug issues/heahaches' and will run fast on heavy data processing and users access..etc. This is extremely critical to the milestone success of the software as traders whom will finally use this software are counting on speed of reflecting true data and info. And lag in this aspect will render the entire project a failure. My expectation for latency [ lag in time] in churning out those massive number of analytics are close to zero on the blessings of today's computer chip processing power and network connection speed. We are betting on up to 32 core processor [ top end desktop computer now using 4 core] and 32 GB ram. Hmmm..sounds like a lot of technicalities. Honestly, I don't know how good these gadgets are, but the consultants advised that with these kind of specs, it shouldn't disappoint me too much.....and it ever fails me, I WILL grill them like satay until 'chao da' and dip them in curry gravy] These two dutiful guys with the utmost honour, working from behind the scene are Kwang Eng and Ing Jye. They have been with us [me and my partner] since the beginning and I must thank them too for the patience and guidance and also that silent assurance that they are beside me to pull through the hits and bumps and make this dream software into a reality which hopefully will live by my promise to benefit its users and the trading/investment community.
So much for the update on my current software project...following up is another blog on what kept me real busy for the past 2 months...hopefully pardoned for missing in action
